Dated Eggs In An Antique Coffee Bowl
Published by leslee February 15th, 2008 in Earth's AbundanceThese eggs were given to me by my neighbors Natalie and Fabrice. They
dated them to mark their freshness. I bought a very old coffee bowl at a brocante
shop in a nearby town and the eggs were small enough to put in. The site was
pure simple poetry and I was moved to make this photograph. I find the light
and the shapes to be very meditative.

Fantastic photograph! So imaginative, with the dated eggs and the light is superb.
The eggs were given to me to eat by my neighbors Natalie and Fabrice.
I love the difference in French handwriting and American so I was loathe
to eat them. One day, while walking by the river with my bi-langue Irish
Terrier, Slaine, I had the idea to make this photo by taking the lovely old
coffee cup I had found in a brocante and putting the eggs in it. I took them
outside to the terrace, put them on the ancient antique garden table with old
cement top, and placed the whole thing under the caressing light of my
terrace’s walnut tree. Voila! The magic made itself and then I did not feel
so badly when I made a delicious omelette with the eggs several days later!
